I'm Nicola McLaughlin

I’ve spent 18 years in the Beauty Industry and 14 years as a Makeup Artist, and every day reminds me that true beauty is about more than how you look, it’s about how you feel. Makeup became my creative outlet, but it’s also my way of helping women step into their own power, at every age and stage.

Working one-to-one with clients, I’ve shared some of their biggest life moments, weddings, graduations, special celebrations, or even just that everyday boost of self-esteem. There’s nothing like seeing someone leave my studio with their head held high, loving what they see in the mirror.

I love connecting with people and providing a service that uplifts women and, in many ways, increases their confidence. I mean that in itself is job satisfaction. You get to be a part of so many important occasions in a women’s life from weddings to formals, graduations, etc you build a relationship with many of these women who trust you to make them look and feel beautiful, it really is a rewarding career.

My journey led me right here, to opening the Nicola McLaughlin Makeup Academy in the heart of West Belfast. After completing my Level 3 in Education & Training, I realized I had found my true calling. It gave me the essential tools to not just practice my craft, but to pass on my skills to the next generation of makeup artists and beauty pros. For me, teaching isn't just a job; it's my purpose. There is truly no better feeling than watching my students find their confidence, master new skills, and go on to build incredible careers of their own.

Beyond being an entrepreneur and a creative, I am a mum to three amazing kids who inspire me every single day. They are my constant reminder of why I do what I do. My mission is simple: to help women believe in themselves, chase what truly lights them up, and show them that with the right skills and a bit of encouragement, anything is possible. I've built this academy on the foundation of empowerment and support.
